About True Light

Ms.Harriet Noyes, the founder of our school, was a missionary from America. She established the True Light Seminary in Guangzhou in 1872. Upholding the Christian spirit of love, kindness and persistence, Ms. Noyes was the first person to provide education and ministry to women in South China. In 1949, Principal Ma Yi Ying relocated the school to Hong Kong and renamed it “Kowloon True Light Middle School”. The school continues her vision for women’s education –to promote Chinese culture and cultivate all-rounded Christian values for girls and women through education.

School History

The Kindergarten Section of Kowloon True Light Middle School first started to provide early childhood education in 1960 at 115 Waterloo Road, the previous school site of the Secondary Section before its relocation to 1 True Light Lane. Throughout the years of service, continual effort was made to lay a solid foundation crucial for developing young children of various talents. Nevertheless, the service of the Kindergarten Section came to a halt in 1993, owing to the School Management Committee’s meticulous consideration of the limited room on the site.

There has however been no lack of appeals for re-opening the kindergarten section since then. With lots of gratitude for the guidance of God, the School Management Committee decided to re-open the Kindergarten Section in September 2017, aiming to provide quality early childhood, primary and secondary Christian education that consistently follows the doctrines and values of True Light for learners at various critical stages of learning. Our mission is often to nurture students of decent moral values, wisdom and talents that do good to society.

(Up to 40% of our K3 students in an academic year can be allocated a place of study in our primary school section.  Those who must be admitted through interviews will also be given preference over other applicants earning the same scores.)

Student-Teacher Ratio: 14 to 1
Qualifications of Teachers: All teachers appointed in the kindergarten are trained and qualified.  Each class is attended by two class teachers, one native speaker of English and the other Cantonese-speaking.  Putonghua is also taught by a native speaker of the language.
Design of School Site:
  • Our classrooms are differently designed and decorated according to a unique theme, including Space Gallery, Fantasy Garden, a Snow Park, a Water World, Noah’s Ark and Fairy Tales to an art gallery, aiming to enrich the learning environment, stimulates students’ thinking, observation, creativity and imagination.
  • Our classrooms are equipped with an interactive whiteboard and air purifiers (IQ Air).
  • The school hall & music room are equipped with audio-visual equipment for performing arts activities (such as dancing, music playing and dramas).
Key Features of Curriculum:
  • Develop core values in Christianity and preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God.
  • Follow a theme-based curriculum.
  • Enhance learners’ creativity and curiosity while learning through exploring and gaining hands-on experience.
  • Provide individual-based, self-paced text-reading and reading-aloud activities in both English and Chinese.

  • Widen learners’ horizon through art courses infused with Western and Chinese cultures.
School Fee (for 2024-25)

HK$6,440 per month

The school fee for a whole year will be collected within 11 months.
The exact amount is subject to the approval of the Education Bureau.
